Over the past few months, Manchester United have been linked with numerous central midfielders.
The likes of Kroos, Strootman and Fabregas have been in the limelight but the Red Devils are also looking for cheaper alternatives.
According to reports, Manchester United are set to follow their interest in Benfica’s star midfielder Enzo Perez.
As per the provided link, the Primeira Liga champions rate the Argentinian star around €20m.
The 27 year old Perez has featured in 28 league appearances for Benfica this season, scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists as well.
The English giants have scouted him several times over the past few weeks and monitored his performances as he played a pivotal role in Benfica’s brilliant run in the league as well as Europa League.
Compatriots Ever Banega and Javier Macherano remain favorites to occupy the starting central midfield role for Argentina during the world cup, however Perez has experience and 6 international caps to his name.
With the performances he has put in this season, it will come as a surprise if he is not selected in the Argentine squad for the 2014 World Cup.
Man United scouts are all set to watch Perez in the Europa League final against Sevilla and have enough time to decide whether he fits the bill or not.
Benfica already lost one star midfielder in Nemanja Matic to Chelsea last summer, will they be resigned to lose another this summer, only time will tell.
