Chelsea ripped Schalke apart at Stamford Bridge but could not take the momentum to beat West Brom on Saturday.
Jose Mouriho’s men are now 4th in the league as Liverpool and Southampton took advantage. However, they are just 4 points behind leaders Arsenal who lost to Manchester United last night.
Chelsea need more reinforcements in January to ensure they win the premier league title after 2010. With so much competition, the title race may go down to the wire.
According to Metro, blues have lodged a €14 million bid to sign Schalke sensational star Max Meyer.
The German international is just 18 years old and has started showing signs of top quality already.
This year, Meyer has featured in 19 games in all competitions, scored 7 goals and has provided 2 assists as well.
The youngster is a versatile talent, capable of playing at both flanks as well as central attacking midfielder.
Adding to that, the ability to hold the ball well, pacy runs with the ball and use of both feet makes him even more exciting.
Blues were also reportedly interested in his team mate Julian Draxler but he would cost way more than that and Chelsea do not need to spend hefty sums on attacking midfielders when they do have more than a few already.
Which brings us to the question that whether 18 year old Meyer will like to move to Chelsea given the competition for places is very high.
Hazard, Mata, Willian, Schurrle and Oscar are already there and no one has starting place guaranteed.
Whether or not Meyer will sign for Chelsea in January, we shall see.
