Spurs Plan Massive €32m Offer to lure Star But that’s InsaneTottenham Hotspur spent more than 100 million Euros last summer to reinforce squad and have started the season brightly.
The North Londoners have been able to cope comfortably after the departure of star player Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. Numerous big names like Paulinho, Eriksen, Lamela and Soldado joined White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs want more top quality signings in the winter transfer window to ensure that they qualify for Champions league and also fight for the title.
They paid a hefty sum of 30 million Euros to lure Spanish forward Roberto Soldado from Valencia.
Now, they are planning another massive offer of €32m to lure another star striker in January, that’s actually inasne. The player in discussion is Christian Benteke.
The Belgian international was chased by many top clubs last summer but opted to stay with Villa. However, with his inevitable quality and availability in European competitions, Villa will find it hard to hold onto him especially if such a mammoth sum is offered.
Benteke directly contributed in 23 league goals last season (19 goals, 4 assists). Moreover he has already netted 4 in the 6 premier league games he has played this season.
The major question as far as Spurs are concerned is that can they fit Soldado and Benteke into one lineup as both are out and out strikers and currently Villas Boas is mainly using (4-2-3-1), (4-3-3) a lone striker upfront.
Surely there is no point of spending 62 million Euros on two strikers just to make one of them sit on the bench. For backup, they do have Defoe.
Not to forget, already they are keeping record signing Erik Lamela on the bench in the league and they really need to sign sensibly.

Only a gooner, obsessed with Spurs could have posted this self absorbed article. I’m sure Daniel Levy will appreciate the financial advice, they really need to sign sensibly. ” from such a successful international financial icon. Seriously- toddle off to s gooner website and don’t insult our intelligence.

  2. Daskin says:

Actually the gooner is right here. We do not need Benteke, certain not for 32 million.
The kind of game we play, Soldado is the perfect player and I guarantee he ll score lots in time.

And if Soldado gets injured ???….I agree he is a high quality striker and will score for fun once fully settled and once our team slots into place as regular
And if Soldado get’s injured?? (heaven forbid)… he is absolutely a quality player and will score for fun as he settles into the style of play, and the frenetic pace of the Premier League…but in our new style of 1 upfront we have to have competition and a high quality option…much as I love Defoe and the goals he gets he isn’t able to challenge in the air or hold the ball up for others … and please don’t even mention Grabebayor!!! So if the club management calculate that w can afford it …GO FOR IT!!

  3. He would be a really good signing. He is young and can improve on his already brilliant start in premier league. What do Spurs do if Soldado gets a serious injury? depend on Ade and Defoe again? I would love to see spurs sign him.

  4. Michael Philip says:

Would be a great signing..Defoe is europa league and trash minutes f or Spurs…we do need two switchable, like for like strikers..besides, who says he’ll cost 32 million? Villa will take half that….

  5. serious says:

Ofcourse we need benteke soldado is 28 and a great striker but when he is not playing we need a more physical striker. One striker can not play for the whole season and it will give them more time to settle for next season by him even if it cost 30 million are net spend will still be lower than arsenal looool

  6. Rod says:

it appears that our strikers are physical, skillful, and technical? how about balance added in wayward play – i think dats intense. goonergohome!!!

  7. mahi says:

bullshit….. I do agree dat we need a really good back up… but benteke s not dat guy…. we need players lik Hernandez dzeko… someone who offers different Dan soldado- coming off the bench & able to able challenge soldado 4 1st team spot… benteke is clearly not dat guy

  8. Rob says:

I have said since the window closed that a renewed bid for Benteke should be a priority in January, so I hope this is true. Ade is a waste of space and Defoe is a flat-track bully, leaving us with one quality striker.
What is unusual about a top side having great players on the bench? That’s the situation we have been striving for, isn’t it? It’s a necessity, not a problem. Manchester City rotate their forwards seamlessly, and Benteke would get a lot more games for Spurs than Hernandez does at United.
