LFC vs Spurs – Who Won Premier League Transfer Window

Arsenal only completed one major signing this summer, Mesut Ozil and left many important positions that needed reinforcements.
Manchester United’s transfer window was perhaps the worst in years. Like gunners, they could also sign one major player in the form of Everton’s Marouane Fellaini.
Chelsea added a few quality players to their lineup but loaned out their best striker and again failed to lure a world class goal scorer. Ended up with veteran Eto’o. We shall see how he turns out.
Two teams that did fantastic business and covered all significant positions are Liverpool and Spurs The question is who won premier league’s transfer window this summer.
Tottenham
Spurs major chunk of income arrived thanks to the departure of best player Gareth Bale. The record deal with Real Madrid helped the Londoners secure many top targets this summer.
Tottenham badly needed a prolific goal scorer upfront, Soldado fits the bill. Someone who could win the midfield battle, Paulinho and playmakers like Lamela and Eriksen have amplified quality and reduced the pain of losing Bale.
As written before, they have arguably signed the bargain of this summer by luring Eriksen from Ajax for just 11.5 million pounds.
Chadli, another winger, Capoue a DM and a defender in Chiriches are also bright prospects.
Transfer Regrets
After signing many top draw players, they really do not have many regrets. Few fans are still disappointed they lost one of the best players in the world in Bale but majority are delighted with the business.
Spurs Net Spending

Liverpool
Reds let go 9 players this summer, cutting off the heavy wage bill and deadwood players plus sent players on important loans. On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers signed 8 new players for the first team.
Liverpool were absolutely brilliant in terms of goal scoring in the second half of last season. Moses, Aspas and Alberto further increases attacking quality and depth. Their main weakness was the defense and therefore Reds have signed no less than 5 players as defensive reinforcements.
Reina, Skrtel and Enrique were the inconsistent defensive players last season and Rodgers recruited Mignolet who is doing wonders already, Toure Ilori and Sakho for central defense and Cissokho for left back position.
Overall the merseysiders signed majority of their players early on in the market and they have settled well in Rodgers’s system thanks to enough pre-season time.
Last but not the least, their biggest decision was exactly opposite to that of Spurs. Liverpool opted to keep their star player Luis Suarez. Reds will be on another level when he returns and clubs should not take them lightly this season.
Transfer Regrets
Losing out on a top quality attacking midfielder like Mkhitaryan and Willian for one. In the end, they had to loan Moses from Chelsea which is a decent signing as well. In my opinion, LFC’s transfer regret (Rodgers may think otherwise) is that they could have signed Eriksen but ignored him.
Rodgers was more interested in an LM as he wants Coutinho to play centrally. Eriksen and Coutinho are both versatile and could have shifted positions to amplify the attack. Nevertheless, they are going well for now.

Conclusion
On Individual basis, Tottenham have signed big names without a shadow of a doubt. Names that every supporter will like to have in his team. However, their squad completely looks a new one and will get to know and play in the new system.
Liverpool had sorted their targets, signed them early and the results are in front of us. Few late arrivals but they have so many options now and are in no rush to directly bring them into starting XI, can do that gradually. Perhaps they should have signed a DM as well but for now Gerrard is helping Lucas effectively.
