Alcantara’s Arrival Perhaps Inevitable Now

Manchester United have been chasing Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara for quite some time now and reports suggest that Alcantara’s arrival is perhaps inevitable now. The 22 year old Spanish international may as well be the most important signing for Manchester United this summer.
Goal reports that  the Catalan star has already agreed terms with the English champions and will let Spanish champions know about his desire to play for the Devils next season. The highly talented midfielder will vastly strengthen Manchester United’s squad as they look to retain the premier league crown.
Despite the inevitable quality, Alcantara failed to earn a regular first team spot with Barcelona. Who is to blame when you already have a star studded side and players like Xavi and former Arsenal star Fabregas playing at the same position.
Adding to that, with the World Cup coming up next year, Thiago surely wants to be part of the Spanish squad there and staying with Barcelona will not help his cause. His national silverwares only include trophies at under 17 and under 21 level while the first team squad are World and European Champions. There is no way Alcantara would want to miss next year’s trip to Brazil.
His lack of playing time with Barcelona has in turn helped United who are confident that they can sign Thiago at a reported price of 18 million Euros which is surely a bargain for one of the best young players in the world.
The Spaniard was once again brilliant in the Under 21 European Championships lately held in Israel where Spain impressively retained their crown.
Alcantara is currently on holiday and has left his representative to let Barcelona know that he does not want to play for them next season. He may as well return from vacations to officially sign for Manchester United.
Thiago Alcantara will surely be David Moyes’s marquee signing, one that will excite the fans and can fill the void left by legendary Paul Scholes.
