Manchester United likely to Fail in Pursuit of Midfielder Again

Manchester United likely to Fail in Pursuit of Midfielder Again Much has been discussed who will be David Moyes’s first signing as Manchester United’s manager and the Red Devils are linked with top quality players. One of his main priorities will be to replace the retired legend Paul Scholes and numerous names are coming up for that.
One of those players is former Tottenham star Luka Modric. The Devils have been heavily linked with the Croatian for the past two summers but failed to lure him. It seems likely that Manchester United will fail in pursuit of the midfielder again.
Modric is exactly the kind of player that will fit in Paul Scholes role perfectly but Tottenham blocked his transfer in 2011 and preferred not to sell him to another rival and hence he departed for Real Madrid last summer.
It is expected that PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti will sign for Real Madrid after Jose Mourinho leaves the club. The two time Champions league winner with Milan is a keen admirer of Luka Modric and it is highly likely that Carlo will keep him at the Bernabeu. Ancelotti claimed last summer:

“I did not need to see him (Modric) at the Euro to know how much talent he has. I knew his capabilities before. Now he has confirmed his high quality for those who did not know.

If that is not enough then Ancelotti was also determined to land the midfielder during his time at Chelsea, confirmed by a source close to the Croatian back then by Zdravko Mamic, the Dinamo Zagreb vice-president.
Adding to that Madrid paid a mammoth 33 million pounds for his services and again it is not likely that they will sell him knowing that they will probably need him considering the ageing Spaniard Xabi Alonso.
Although one of Ancelotti’s former star Kaka is linked to exit Real Madrid this summer but may be the arrival of Carlo can change that as the playmaker was one of the best under him during their time at AC Milan. Still, that does not alter Modric’s importance in the side as both play in different positions.
Moreover, Modric has been in good form lately. He was not at his best during the early stages of first season in Spain but slowly he has come good and again Madrid will prefer selling other deadwoods instead of getting rid of a guy in form.
To sum it all up, Manchester United will have to look at other alternatives to fill the void left by Paul Scholes as they are likely to fail in signing Luka Modric yet again. Catalan stars Fabregas and Alcantara have been linked with United along with Everton’s Fellaini. Who will the Devils sign? Only time will tell.

Personally think he is over rated and has not justified his price tag at all. To sign him we pay 40m ? sorry no need for that
