Why Cameron Completely Missed the Point

Why Cameron Completely Missed the Point Commenting on SuarezLuis Suarez is probably the top debating figure in England these days. That level that even the Prime Minister of the country stood up, took notice and cared to share his thoughts about the actions of Liverpool’s star man. However, Mr. Cameron has completely missed the point while commenting on Suarez.
Not being an English citizen so commenting on how he is running the country does not make much sense but as Cameron claimed, he came out to discuss the point of view as a father of his seven year old son. Well, as a PM, surely he is supposed to show same concern for everyone as he does for his son. In any case, he had nothing more important to do but to talk about football.
Nevertheless, coming to the issue, the Prime minister claimed that some people did not actually take that incident seriously when they really should. Cameron said:

“There are people, I’ve read in some newspapers, who think somehow this isn’t serious. I think it is serious, when we’re trying to bring up our children properly, they do see football players as role models.”

No idea what kind of newspapers he reads these days but the point is entirely invalid. Not just neutrals, he will not find even a single Liverpool fan claiming that Suarez did not deserve any punishment for his actions. That fact clearly explains that even the Reds supporters agree that the matter was serious.
Luis’s act cannot be defended at all but he only deserved his 3 game ban or perhaps add one more to it for the silliness of the actions. The aspect most people are highlighting is that how can you ban a player for 10 games for a nibble that did not leave a mark no matter how stupid it was but at the same time a petty act such as a head-butt only gets a 3 game ban.
Manchester City’s Ben Thatcher went mad as he elbowed  Pedro Mendes in 2006, that incident can be considered as an assault as the Portsmouth player had fits in hospital. Surprisingly, it seems that incident was not even worse than Suarez’s bite as Thatcher got an 8 game ban for the idiotic act while Suarez touches double figures.
The ban was inevitable; it is the severity of the punishment that has baffled all football followers not just Liverpool fans. The verdict itself shows the weaknesses and inconsistencies in Football Association as they never seem to make a justifiable decision. Lastly, Cameron surely needs to find something significant as a Prime Minister to be at least busy.
