Arsenal Angle – Ineffective Attack and Fragile Defense

Arsenal Angle – Ineffective Attack and Fragile DefenseArsenal somehow fought out a win versus struggling QPR yesterday but the overall play remained average to say the least. Gunners are clearly a side low on confidence, confirms the recent showings. They are not just missing the cutting edge with ineffective attack, being able to score only once in their last three fixtures but are also finding it hard to convert possession into chances.
Yesterday’s game versus rangers showed exactly what Arsenal concerns are. Even after dominating possession, no less than 70 percent during the game, Gunners only created two clear cut chances. Both of which fell to one man, Santi Cazorla, the first one was perhaps the best chance of the match deep inside the box that he blasted over the goal and the second was brilliantly saved by inspired Julio Cesar. Their most effective player on the day was none other than Jack Wilshere who returned after a lengthy injury.
The fixture had an exciting climax but the first 75 minutes were absolutely mundane. The game turned on its head when M’bia got straight red for his idiotic lunge on the Arsenal captain Vermaelen in the 80th minute. Home side found more space to attack but still needed a goal mouth scramble to finally take the lead when Arteta netted home from a yard much to the despair of travelling supporters.

Mikel Arteta Winner Vs QPR

Even after taking the lead and playing with 11 against 10, Arsenal were unable to finish the game off, instead QPR could have equalized for worst with two great chances wasted in added time. First by former Real Madrid star Granero who broke the offside trap thanks to poor defending by Gunners but shot wide and second when Jamie Mackie rowed through the obstacles, cutting three defenders apart only to see his shot saved from very close range.
To sum it all up, Arsenal not only have issues in the attacking third but have shown their fragility in defense as well that could cost them dear. If they do not step up and a very similar performance is delivered next week against Manchester United, then gunners and the fans can expect another defeat if not humiliation coming their way.

it is funny for the past 3 years we have the same problem all the possession we have which in most games is about 60 to 70% and we can not score, wenger has to take the blame he knew all our star players where going and he bought in players that are not of the same quality,, carzola, vermalen, arteta are our best two players, defensively for a number of years we are getting worse, and no disrespect gibbs, sagna, jenkilson they are nothing or even gifted as the ashley coles, winterburns, adams, dixon, merson, parlour, not even in the same league, and every year it is the same spoken speech by wenger, yesterdays match against QPR we were no better, the thing in football is if you see other footballers not pulling their weight it has an effect on the players who want to win hence our performances, kroenke and the board are the biggest mistake to this club we love because they think success is by qualifying for champions league, by there words clearly stating that is what they call success, well what happens if we dont qualify? because all this board and kroenke are interested in is lining their pockets, every year we get same comment in 2 years we will be competitive they have been saying this for the past 5 years we have sold our best players and wenger has to take part blame in the dead wood we have in that squad and we are very light if players get injured nobody to fill class boots it is about time wenger woke up and smelt that french cheese and realised there are major problems with this squad and he has been the cause with his cheap buys only three palyers can be classed as good players, but ia m convinced we will not finish top four this year and then the question remains what now? or what will the excuses be from this old fart board with kroenke? time will tell

Arsenal possesing the midfield without creative passes to giroud. Don’t blame giroud for nt scoring goals bcus no finish pass got to. Rvp was a great scorer bcus he got fantastic passes from fabrigas, song n rosicki. Ars present midfielders shud look at giving finishing passes rather than possesing alone. When goal is scored its pull the opponent’s morale down so ars need score before taLking about possesion. No, the attack s nt fragile but the midfield. Frank amali, nig

  4. Think u are underrating Cazorla, hes been the best Arsenal player and has set up Giroud a few times this season, Dont tell me you have not seen him miss chances that RvP would have scored
