Aston Villa confirm the loan signing of 20-year-old Chelsea striker

Championship side Aston Villa have confirmed the recruitment of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea on a season-long loan move. The England international spent the 2017/18 season in the Premier League on loan with Swansea City but he has now decided to drop down a division to enhance his prospects of regular game.
Initially, Abraham had hinted that he could fight for his position with the west London giants but Maurizio Sarri’s preference for Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud meant that he could not break into the Blues matchday squad.
As such, he has now taken the decision to drop back into the Championship and he can certainly be expected to make an impact with the Villains after previously netting 26 goals for Bristol City during a loan spell during the 2016/17 season.
At the start of the summer, Steve Bruce’s side were facing the process of entering into administration amid their financial constraints but the change of ownership in between has once more made them a genuine force to reckon with.
Jack Grealish and James Chester were among the players who could have left during the difficult situation but they have managed to overcome the predicament with Yannick Bolasie, Axel Tuanzebe and Abraham among those bolstering the side through loan deals.
At present, Villa have accumulated nine points from their opening five matches and this sees them positioned fourth in the standings, four adrift of Leeds United and Middlesbrough who are occupying the automatic promotion places.
Up next, they are scheduled to face Sheffield United on the road and they should fancy their chances of picking a positive result, should the recent history between the sides be considered.
Since 1992, Sheffield are winless against the Villains in league football with just three points picked in the form of draws and this should provide the west Midlands outfit with a boost ahead of this weekend’s encounter.
