Arsenal announce their fourth summer signing

Premier League giants Arsenal have confirmed their fourth recruit of the ongoing transfer window with Lucas Torreira arriving from Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old had been tipped to join the Gunners as early as June but the move was supposedly delayed due to the midfielder’s participation for Uruguay at the World Cup.

The north London giants have lacked the presence of a playbreaker over the years who can present a tireless workrate on the playing field and this is something Torreira could solve heading into the 2018/19 Premier League season.
The Uruguayan has already shown glimpses of his potential to the Gunners’ faithful after impressing for the national team at the World Cup and his physical challenge against Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo has particularly been a favourite among the supporters.

Meanwhile, Torreira may not be the sole midfield recruit for the Gunners this summer with the club seemingly close to acquiring the signature of Matteo Guendouzi from French club Lorient.
The Moroccan-born midfielder is supposedly considered as a future prospect for the club and according to BBC Sport, the teenager has already undergone his medical with an announcement expected in due course.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery has placed a keen emphasis on improving the defensive side of the club’s game this summer and so far, things appear to have gone by plan, though the results are yet to be witnessed.
The north London club have been accustomed to tricky schedules at the start of every other Premier League season and the 2018/19 campaign is no different with Emery facing a huge test of his managerial credentials against Manchester City and Chelsea.
One key advantage for Arsenal, however, could be the fitness of their players, considering their opponents have plenty of personnel who have recently progressed into the last-eight of the ongoing World Cup.
