Liverpool signed a new goal keeper last summer in the form of Loris Karius but the German international proved to be average and was soon replaced by Simon Mignolet in the starting XI.
In the past few months, the Belgian goalie has improved a lot and it will be fair to say that he played a key role in helping Liverpool earn Champions League qualification.
Still, the Merseysiders are looking to sign a new goalie to strengthen the department in the summer transfer window and reports (AS) suggest that they have moved in with an offer to agree the signing of Iker Casillas.
As per the provided AS link, the legendary Spanish goalie, who will be out of contract this summer, has offers on the table from Liverpool, Qatar, China and Turkey and he is willing to accept one of the offers.
The Spanish source further claim that Casillas could end up signing for Liverpool and may have even arranged a pre-contract agreement with them because they offer him the chance to feature in the Champions League.
The former Real Madrid star had a brilliant season with Porto. He featured in 33 league games for the Primeira Liga giants, conceded only 16 goals and kept no fewer than 19 clean sheets.
Casillas is a decorated star, who has won the World Cup and two European Championships with Spain. Moreover, he won every major title with the Los Blancos before joining the Portuguese side.
Iker turned 36 this month and has got bags of experienced but is he good enough to be Liverpool’s first choice goalie?
