Liverpool will collide against West Ham United tomorrow and if Arsenal do not drop points vs Stoke today then the Reds will have to beat the Hammers to stay in pole position for Champions League qualification.
As far as the transfers are concerned, the Merseysiders have to sort out their back line by signing a top quality center back and also a left back.
James Milner has done well as an LB but Klopp needs a natural star for that position. One such player in the limelight is Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand.
Earlier this month, Mirror reported that Liverpool and Chelsea are eyeing the signing of the 27-year-old England international.
Now, another media outlet in the form of ESPN have claimed that as per sources close to Bertrand, Liverpool and Manchester City are planning to move in and hire the services of the former Blues left back.
Since joining the Saints, Bertrand has been top class and proved that he is one of the best fullbacks in the country. Solid at the back and also productive in the attacking third, he would be the perfect player to solve Jurgen Klopp’s left back dilemma.
Ryan played every minute of the four games against Liverpool this season and helped the team keep four clean sheets. Overall, in 32 games (all competitions), he has scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists.
Bertrand’s current deal with Claude Puel’s team will expire in 2021 and his transfer value is 25.2million euros ($28million) as per CIES Football Observatory.
