Manchester United are seriously looking to sign a top quality central defender in the summer transfer window to reinforce their back line.
Yesterday, we covered a report (via Mirror) claiming that the Red Devils are once again interested in signing Benfica star Victor Lindelof.
Another center half that United have been chasing for quite some time is Brazilian international and PSG star Marquinhos. According to Mirror, the Old Trafford club are increasingly confident of securing his signature in a deal worth 50 million pounds.
As per the provided Mirror link, Mourinho has made the Samba star his top defensive target and a week or so back, Goal reported that United are ready to offer Marquinhos a deal that will make him earn €10m-a-season.
CIES Football Observatory value him around €42million and his current deal will expire in 2019. As per the provided Goal link, the French giants are not ready to let him leave this summer even a for a fee of €100million.
Since the departure of David Luiz, Marquinhos and Thiago Silva have been the main members of PSG’s central defense and both have been top quality.
This season, the 22-year-old South American defender has featured in 39 games for the reigning Ligue 1 champions and scored 2 goals.
At the moment, the likes of Rojo, Smalling and Jones are out injured for Man United and Blind is partnering Bailly in the central defense. In your opinion, is Marquinhos better than all the Man United center backs?
