After splashing huge amounts of cash on new signings last summer, Manchester United must at least finish in the top four or there season will probably be regarded as a huge failure.
Manager Jose Mourinho is looking to add more top quality signings this summer. Recently, we covered a report (via SW via 24Sata) claiming that the Red Devils are on the verge of finalizing a deal with Croatian international and Inter Milan playmaker Ivan Perisic, who is valued (via La Gazzette dello Sport) at around 60 million euros (£52million).
The question is, how will Mourinho utilize the former Wolfsburg star if he does end up moving to Old Trafford?
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has the ability to effectively use both feet. He can play on either flank, as a central attacking midfielder and also as a secondary striker if needed.
However, his preferred starting position is the left wing and the Nerazzurri have mainly utilized him in that position as well. This season, in 27 league games, the Croat has netted 9 goals and provided 6 assists.
At United, the likes of Martial and Rashford have mainly started on the left hand side of the attack and we can expect Perisic to become the first choice left winger if he joins.
Mourinho has mostly used a 4-2-3-1 system this season. In that formation, Perisic could line up with Mkhitaryan and record signing Pogba in the attack behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
