Liverpool have been in search of a top quality defensive midfielder for a long time and once again Argentine star Leandro Paredes is in the limelight.
Back in January, we covered a report (via Gianluca Di Marzio) claiming that Roma want a fee of 30 million euros ($32.4million) for their South American star.
Now, according to an exclusive report covered by TMW, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is determined to get Paredes signing done and he is planning to splash a sum of 25 million euros to finally secure his signature. Italian source Tutto Mercato Web claimed the same that Liverpool are ready to invest the above mentioned sum to sign him.
The 22-year-old star’s current contract with the Giallorossi will expire in 2019.
Paredes is a versatile talent, who mainly plays as a defensive midfielder but can also be deployed in the central midfield if needed. This season, in 22 league appearances, the former Boca Juniors player has netted three goals for the Italian side.
In the current campaign, captain Jordan Henderson has performied the duties of a defensive midfielder (first choice) in Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 system.
However, the England international is a not a natural holding midfield star and Liverpool need a specialist for the position to progress next season. Someone like Leandro Paredes can surely solve the dilemma at Anfield.
