Tottenham were ousted from the Europa League last week and they bounced back in style to beat Stoke City 4-0 in the Premier League at the weekend.
The North Londoners are currently second in the table and must qualify for next season’s Champions League or their season will be regarded as a failure.
As far as the transfers are concerned, Spurs still need a quality goalscorer, someone who can partner Harry Kane or play as a lone striker in his absence. Pochettino lured Janssen last summer but the Dutch international has proved to be average.
In such a scenario, the Argentine boss must sign a new center forward and reports suggest that Spurs can lure Lyon’s star striker Alexandre Lacazette.
According to renowned sports journalist Julien Laurens, the 25-year-old French striker is expected to leave the Ligue 1 side in the summer transfer and will go to England (Mirror via BT Sport)
“I think he will go to England. Whether that is Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham – I don’t know. You will have to pay around £40m or £50m.”
The Les Bleus center forward has been in top form for Lyon this season. In the league, he has scored 22 goals in 22 outings. Only Uruguayan international and PSG striker Edinson Cavani has netted more league goals (26) than Lacazette. In all competitions, Alexandre has scored 27 goals and provided 3 assists in 31 games for the club.
Spurs need a striker like Lacazette but the above mentioned price tag is way too high. They will have to break the club record to lure him.
