Manchester United are on a roll at the moment having won their last five games in all competitions. The Red Devils won their first trophy under the management of Jose Mourinho by beating Southampton in the EFL Cup final last weekend.
Liverpool lost their league game against Leicester last night, and now United have the chance to overtake their arch rivals. Not to forget, the Reds were 10 points above the Old Trafford club earlier in the season.
As far as the transfers are concerned, the former Chelsea boss needs to reinforce his squad next summer to improve the team and once again Stefan de Vrij is in the limelight.
The Dutch international was linked with a move to Man United when compatriot Louis van Gaal was in charge of the club. Back in December 2016, reports (SW via Il Messaggero) suggested that the former Feyenoord defender is ready say yes to joining Man United.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then Man United are clear to finally secure his signing next summer. According to Express, Lazio are ready to sell Stefan to Man United for a fee of 30 million pounds ($37million).
De Vrij was fantastic for the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup 2014. Moreover, he has been impressive in the Serie A as well. This season, he suffered a metatarsal fracture and has only featured in 18 league games. The highly rated central defender has scored one goal and provided one assist in the current campaign.
United are also looking to sign Swedish star Victor Lindelof from Benfica and may get rid of De Vrij’s Dutch team mate Daley Blind (via The Sun).
