Tottenham splashed the cash in the summer transfer window and hired the services of a top quality defensive midfielder by luring Victor Wanyama from Southampton.
If the latest reports are anything to go by then the North Londoners are linked with another holding midfield star in the form of Argentine international Leandro Paredes.
According to the Sun, the 22-year-old star is mainly wanted by Liverpool but London clubs like Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea are also linked with the Roma player.
The South American star can effectively play as a defensive midfielder and also as a creative central midfielder. He is rated (TMW via Sky Italia) around 30 million euros.
Last season, Leandro played on loan for Serie A side Empoli. In 33 games, the former Chievo midfielder scored 2 goals and provided one assist. This season, he has played 22 games for the Giallorossi and scored 1 goal.
As far as Tottenham are concerned, they already have players like Wanyama, Dier and Dembele who can play in the defensive/central midfield role. Therefore, Spurs do not really need Paredes at the moment.
Spurs need to improve the quality and depth of their attack and are once again linked with a move to sign Wilfried Zaha (The Sun).
