Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is in the market to sign a new left wingback and a certain German international is in the limelight.
The Italian manager lured Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina last summer and the Spanish international has been brilliant for the Blues in the usual 3-4-3 formation.
However, if Alonso gets injured then Chelsea do not have an adequate player to replace the former Viola defender. In such a scenario, the Stamford Bridge club are looking to sign Koln defender Jonas Hector.
The 26-year-old star is Germany’s first choice left back and was a key member of the squad at the European Championships last year. Not to forget, he scored the decisive penalty to knock Conte’s Italy out from Euro 2016.
Two days back, Bild reported that Chelsea want the versatile defender who is rated around 30 million euros ($32million). Yesterday, another German source Express reported Chelsea are ready to splash the mentioned fee to sign Hector.
As per the provided Express link, Jonas can double his salary at Stamford Bridge. Solid at the back and effective in the attacking third, Hector is good enough to start for the Blues even ahead of Alonso and he will surely not want to warm the bench.
This season, he has featured in 16 league games for Koln and provided one assist.
