Manchester United registered their fourth consecutive win in the Barclays Premier League (fifth on the trot in all competitions) against Sunderland yesterday and once again star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the best player on the field.
The Swedish international scored a goal and set up another two to earn all three points for the Red Devils vs the Black Cats.
Jose Mourinho lured Ibrahimovic from PSG and the former Barca star signed a one year deal with an option to extend the contract for another year.
The veteran center forward is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, he is actually getting better with age. The 35-year-old striker has started 23 games for United this season and directly contributed in no fewer than 22 goals (17 goals and 5 assists).
The former Chelsea boss is more than pleased and has confirmed that Ibrahimovic will be at Old Trafford next season. After the victory against Sunderland, Mourinho claimed (Talksport)
“When such a guy (Zlatan) decides to come, I was completely clear that he would be ready and he is ready for more next season. He will be here again.”
Asked if the one year extension in his contract has been agreed, Jose replied:
“Not yet, but it is activated in his brain and it is activated also in my decisions, the owners and the board’s, so no problem.”
Zlatan has been fantastic and Man United must hold onto him no matter what. Last season, Martial was United’s top scorer with 17 goals in all competitions. As mentioned above, Ibra has already matched that tally.
