After last season, it was evident that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp needed top signings to reinforce his squad in the summer transfer window and the German has done very well so far.
More than a few top playmakers were linked with a move to Anfield and the former Borussia Dortmund boss opted to sign the likes of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum to strengthen the offense.
A Portuguese star was also in the limelight in the form of Sporting CP attacker Joao Mario and reports suggest that the Reds moved in with an offer to lure him as well.
According to Diario de Noticias, Mario’s father has claimed that Liverpool made an offer of 40 million euros (without bonuses) to sign the 23-year-old star.
Last season, Joao featured in 45 games for Sporting, scored 7 goals and also provided 12 assists. Mario was also a key member of the Euro 2016 winning Portuguese side. He featured in every game of the competition for the national team.
As per the provided Diario de Noticias link, the versatile playmaker is rated around 60 million euros ($66 million). After luring Mane and Wijnaldum, it will be a huge surprise if Klopp still tries to sign Mario.

Oh yes that is the right decision, Jurgon will make him a great player. Good luck
yah, since he featured in all games both at the club and national team, then it means he is not injury prone compared to Henderson, so he can replace him in the midfield, with 12 assists means his creativity can add a positive impact to the club next season. BUT,before him, a left back please! to help or rather compete moreno
Klopp should not waste money on Jao Mario. He should pay far less for sissoko who already understands epl ,has pace and great football sense.
