Arsenal can sign a top midfielder or a playmaker or a defender for that matter but they will still fail to win the league if they do not sign a world class goalscorer.
When will Wenger understand that Olivier Giroud is just not good enough.
Since the departure of Robin van Persie, Arsene has not been able to replace the prolific Dutch striker. They have spent big, but never on a proven quality center forward.
The French boss has made a particular excuse of finding the right player many times and it is unbelievable that he has never found a top striker when there are more than a few available in the market.
Here are a few examples from the past when Wenger has made this joke of an excuse.
Yesterday, after the 1-1 draw against Lens in a friendly contest, Wenger (ESPN) came up and once again stated:
“We are very active, and if we find the right candidates we will spend big money. We have already spent big.”
Gonzalo Higuain is ready to accept a move to Arsenal and the Gunners are also linked with French striker Alexandre Lacazette (The Guardian) who is ready to leave Lyon.
The above mentioned forwards are top goalscorers and are definitely right candidates to improve Arsenal’s strike-force.
However, after failing to win the title last season, it will not come as any surprise if Wenger ignores the obvious again and does not sign an out and out striker this summer.
Arsene should invest in weak areas. For me the midfield department has enough players i.e. Conquelen, Wilshire, Ozil, Elney, Chamberlain, Iwobi, Carzola.
While strikers there is Giroud, Walcott and Sanchez of a real striker is Giroud who is terrible, no skil no speed nor aggression.
One quality striker would solve all problems
