Star Deal in Principle already Agreed – Liverpool not Waiting for Summer

Liverpool have been quite active in the winter transfer window but it will be fair to say that they have not really sealed a top quality signing as yet.
The Merseysiders secured the signature of Marko Grujic but then loaned him back to Red Star Belgrade for the remainder of the season. Other than that, the Reds have called a few players back from their respective loan spells and signed Caulker on loan from QPR.
Liverpool have been interested in signing Schalke center back Joel Matip and two weeks back, Mirror reported that the Reds have agreed a deal in principle to lure the Cameroonian star for free in the summer transfer window.

However, the defensive woes continue to haunt Jurgen Klopp and now it seems that Liverpool are in no mood of waiting for Matip’s contract to expire at the end of the season and want to secure his signature now.
According to latest reports from Sky Sports, Liverpool have moved in with an offer to sign the 24-year-old Bundesliga star this winter. Joel has told his club he wants to leave.
Matip has featured in 23 games for the German side this season, scored 4 goals and also provided 3 assists (Transfermarkt).We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the remaining days of the January transfer window.
