Last summer, Man United manager Louis van Gaal let go two strikers in the form of Danny Welbeck (Arsenal) and Javier Hernandez (Real Madrid Loan).
However, not many eyebrows were raised as Radamel Falcao arrived from Monaco on loan. Unfortunately, the Colombian international failed to shine for the Red Devils and left the club at the end of last season.
The Dutch manager is repeating the same mistake again this summer. Instead of solving the strike-force dilemma after letting Falcao leave, Van Gaal sold star striker Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce.
What’s more shocking is that now the former Bayern boss is ready to permanently sell Mexican star Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez as well.
According to Spanish source Fichajes, Manchester United are offering Hernandez to Benfica to finally lure Nicolas Gaitan in a player plus cash deal.
If Hernandez departs, United’s strike-force will be even weaker as Rooney will be the only experienced striker left in the squad.
Nevertheless, United seem very serious about signing the Argentine star having already launched 21.1 million pounds bid to secure his services.
Gaitan is without doubt a quality player who has directly contributed in 97 goals (30 goals, 67 assists) for Benfica in 214 games. Still, If United do not sign a top quality striker this summer then the fans can forget about winning the Premier League title next season.
