Real Madrid have reportedly rejected a £20 million bid from Chelsea for their unsettled attacking midfielder Isco.
An improved offer is expected should Chelsea offload Oscar to Juventus.
Opta-powered fantasy football game Oulala have taken a look at the two players and the stats explain why Isco will be a perfect signing, why Chelsea are so eager to lure him and what Blues would gain if the proposed moves materialise.
Of the seven key areas analysed from last season, Isco led Oscar for six.
The 23-year-old completed an average of 45 successful passes per game in La Liga last season compared to 38 from Oscar in the Premier League. Furthermore, the Real Madrid midfielder excelled for pass completion too with 88% to 82% from the Brazilian.
The Spaniard was also superior creatively. Isco supplied more key passes per game (1.3 to 1), created more chances per game (1.6 to 1.3) and made one more assist than Oscar last season (9 to 8).
The Real Madrid player was also more successful for take-ons, completing 57% to Oscar’s 36.7%.
However, something Isco did lack last season was goals. His total of 4 from his 34 appearances will not fill Chelsea fans with confidence. In-fact, the 23-year-old is still to reach double figures in a league season, his best tally of 9 coming in 2012/13 while at previous club, Malaga.
The stats show that if Chelsea manage to land Isco, it could well be the defining transfer that sees them defend their Premier League title next season.
