If reports are anything to go by then Tottenham are set to complete a marquee signing by capturing Atletico Madrid star Toby Alderweireld.
According to reports, the North Londoners have reached agreement with Spanish side worth £11.4million, plus around £1m in bonuses to sign the Belgian international.
As per the provided link, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy traveled to Spain in order to run the rule over the transfer and has finally sealed deal to secure his man from La Liga.
Toby Alderweireld is a top quality play breaker and has proved that while playing in different defensive positions over the years in three different leagues.
The Belgian star used to play as a center back as well as a holding midfielder at Ajax. He was part of Atletico’s La Liga winning side in 2013-2014 season and mainly played as a right back.
Last season he was arguably one of the best central defenders in the Premier League and was a key member of Southampton’s rock solid back line that only conceded 33 goals.
Toby will surely be a fantastic signing for Spurs and manager Mauricio Pochettino can use him in variety of positions.

Spurs Reach Agreement for Top Quality Play Breaker

We need a PLAY MAKER ….not a PLAY BREAKER!
We have enough decent defenders in our squad now, as well as enough defensive mid-fielders.
What we LACK is CREATIVITY in the middle of the park (not resolved since Modric’s departure) ..someone who can link properly with the back, get on a wavelength with Bentaleb or another DM , and free up a more centralised Eriksen and the wings, thus generating more chances for Kane and our striker(s) both through the middle, and from the flanks.
And talking about wings ..when are Tottenham going to sign a top class LEFT WINGER too??
Ok, we’re not likely to strike lucky with another Bale, but we’ve gone from having one of the best left sides in the PL, to one of the worst! Chadli is not consistent or fast enough, while Townsend and Lennon much prefer the right. Also, fillers on the left, eg. Eriksen, take our best players out of their best position.
Adding a top left winger may even give us that balance back whereby the right side has underperformed since Bale left, er, the ‘left’ (ie he played more centrally after Modric left, the season before the Welshman left for good). Lennon hasn’t been the force he was since we had that great balance, and we flounder with both him or Townsend operating as single wingers.
Finally, one more top class STRIKER to take the pressure off Kane.
That’s it!! Three positions we DEFINITELY need to not just strengthen, but fill huge gaps!
I’m sick of seeing us continually linked with that defender or this defensive midfielder!! We have other pressing NEEDS!!!
