Hosts Chile will face tournament favorites Argentina in the Copa America final on Saturday night. Who will come out on top?
This is the 7th time Chile are hosting the competition but they have not even won once, instead have lost 4 times in the final. Their last appearance in the final was way back in 1987.
Argentine on the other hand have won the title on 14 occasions and have the chance to go level with Uruguay if they are victorious. Here are three key battles that may decide the Copa America final.
Alexis Sanchez vs Marcos Rojo
The Arsenal star Alexis has mainly started as central forward but with Eduardo Vargas in top goalscoring form, he should be the one to lead the line while Alexis must play in his preferred position on the right hand side of attack.
Man United’s Marcos Rojo plays as left back for Argentine and the battle between the two premier league rivals will be intriguing. Alexis should be considered favorite to come out on top.
Arturo Vidal vs Javier Mascherano
Vidal has been the creative architect for Chileans in this tournament and will be up against one of the best holding midfielders around in Mascherano. Masch was arguably Argentina’s best player in last year’s World Cup and he is impressing big time again.
Chilean Defense vs Lionel Messi
The Barcelona superstar absolutely made a mockery out of Paraguayan defense in the semi finals. Although he was not on the score-sheet, Lionel assisted three and was involved in all of Argentina’s goals on the night. Goes without saying that if Chile fail to contain Mess then defeat is inevitable
