One of the main reasons why Tottenham have failed to qualify for top four in the Premier League is selling of prized assets.
The examples of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale are in front of us. Spurs did secure many star signings from the cash they got but one man can make the difference.
Same things happened with Liverpool, they opted to keep Suarez when Spurs sold Bale. Reds nearly won the title.
Next summer, Suarez was sold, Liverpool splashed hefty cash to sign players but eventually finished 6th last season.
It is time that Tottenham learnt from their mistakes and first ensure that they hold onto their best players and then bring in quality stars in the transfer window as well.
The two key players linked with a move away from White Hart Lane are Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris
Lloris remains one of the most highly rated goal keepers around while Harry Kane was voted the young player of the year last season for his brilliant goal-scoring form for North Londoners.
There is interest from top clubs but Tottenham have arguably made their best decision this summer and they are not going to sell star duo. Agent of Genoa goalie claimed:
“Tottenham are aiming for the Champions League next year, so they’ve decided not to sell the two totems of their squad for any price, that means Harry Kane or Lloris”
Spurs have signed two defenders in the form Wimmer and Trippier but without doubt keeping two top quality players in Lloris and Kane is more important.

You really dont understand modern football do you? Spurs did not want to sell Modric or Bale. Both players got the chance to play for one of thr biggest clubs in the world. With wages that were 3 or 4 times higher than the high wages Spurs paid. And both players effectively refused to play unless transferred. Tell me what Spurs do in those circumstances? Levy extracted maximum cash as the only option left open. How that money was spent is another story but its wrong to say Levy mad e a mistake in selling Modric and Bale, as if he had an option.
Gary fox it’s people like you who make modern football what it is and I don’t mean that in a good way! I guarantee if spurs benched them until they stopped throwing a tantrum, they would’ve got over it eventually, look at how Southampton has handled schneiderlin. Everyone needs to get out the mentality that you have in thinking the players dictate things, no matter what they’re employees not employers and only employers have the right to be in control as long as the contract is running. If this was a hospital and the doctor said they ain’t working until they get transferred, they would get fired in this day and age, this mentality that the footballers have is killing our beloved game!!!
