Manchester United need to sign top midfielder in the summer transfer window, someone who can finally replace Paul Scholes.
Other than that, it is significant that they hold onto key players as well and veteran Michael Carrick is one of them.
The 33 year old Carrick was injured for the start of the season but has been influential in midfield for the Red Devils and has earned himself one year extension.
Manchester United’s official website confirmed that the club has secured one year extension deal for Michael Carrick.
Carrick has been a brilliant servant for Manchester United over the years, mainly under the management of Alex Ferguson and has been an unsung hero for the Old Trafford side. Surely, he deserved an extension and can still contribute well.
Carrick is delighted to have agreed one year deal and claimed:
“It’s fantastic to know that I can continue my incredible journey with this great club. I am thoroughly enjoying my football and the team are progressing in the right direction under Louis van Gaal.”
“We are all incredibly focused on getting this club back to where it belongs and competing with the best teams in the world.”
Louis van Gaal is happy to have tied Carrick down for one more year and praised the England star for his versatility and professionalism.
As mentioned earlier, whatever the case, United must look to secure a top midfielder signing in the summer transfer window.
