Ozil vs Gustavo: 3 Battles that may Decide Germany vs Brazil

2014 FIFA World CupTwo of the most successful teams in world football will collide in the first semi final as Germany face hosts Brazil.
The footballing giants have together featured in 14 world cup finals (7 each), the winner will set a new record.
Their only World Cup meeting was won by Ronaldo inspired Brazil side in the final of World Cup 2002. Here are the three key battles that may decide the contest between Germany Brazil.
Muller vs Dante
In a way captain Thiago Silva’s absence may prove to be a blessing in disguise for the Samba stars as experienced Dante will come in. The 30 year old star is a key member of Bayern Munich and knows German football more than any other Brazilian defender. He will be up against Bayern team mate Thomas Muller in one of the most intriguing battles.
Ozil vs Gustavo
Another Brazilian player who knows German football quite well is holding midfielder Luiz Gustavo having played 7 years in Bundesliga. Gustavo was another key member of the Bayern squad that won treble in 2013.
He was suspended for the quarter final against Colombia and will be raring to go. German playmaker Ozil has received criticism for not performing to his optimum level in this World Cup and will have to step up big time against Luiz.
Lahm vs Willian
In the absence of Neymar, Willian is expected to step up for Brazil and he is likely to be up against German captain Philipp Lahm. Lahm has been shifted back to full back position where he is needed more and the move has proved fruitful for the Kaisers.
Willian has all the talent to trouble German defense but the pressure of taking fan favorite Neymar’s place is going to be high.
