Shaw to be Joined by Solid Defender as Man United Urged to Lure Varane?

Manchester United are finally up and running in the transfer window, guess they were waiting for the WC group stages to end first.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils have secured two top transfers before the start of international transfer window and have enough time before the start of the season to lure other quality players as well.
Two key problem areas for United last season were midfield and defense. The signings of Herrera and Shaw will go down nicely to fix that issue to an extent but not entirely.
United need more quality and depth in the mentioned departments. As reported earlier, they are looking to lure another midfielder in Arturo Vidal next.
Moreover, they also need solid center halves to replace the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand hence the United fans can expect that the club will sign a solid defender in the coming months to reinforce central defense.
The likes of Martins Indi and Hummels have been linked with a move to Old Trafford but according to legendary star Rio Ferdinand, the Red Devils must sign Real Madrid superstar Raphael Varane.
When asked on twitter about the center back United must lure, Rio replied:

“Varane….Real Madrid won’t sell though.”

United have been linked with the French youngster for the past two seasons but signing him is easier said than done not just because Madrid won’t sell but also because he will love to stay with the European Champions and there is no point joining a club who will not even play in Europe next season.
However, there are more than a few top central defenders in the market and Van Gaal will surely look to lure one to Old Trafford if not two.
