Manchester United could revive interest in World Cup finalist

Manchester United are reportedly planning a fresh attempt to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan with Gareth Bale appearing likely to stay put with Real Madrid. United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster the right-wing position before next month’s transfer deadline and Perisic has now re-emerged as a possible option after his impressive showing for Croatia at the World Cup.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Mourinho may urge the United hierarchy to renew the club’s approach in signing Perisic, considering former target Bale could remain with Real Madrid after their recent change of management.
Nevertheless, the Croatia international won’t come on the cheap  with the Nerazzurri likely to demand much more than the £48m valuation, which United refused to match during the 2017 summer transfer window.
United have been blessed with plenty of young attackers in the form of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard in their ranks but none of them have managed to maintain this consistency whilst featuring on the right side of the attack.
As a result, there has been plenty of speculation about United pursuing a new attacker and Perisic has re-emerged as an option after contributing three goals and an assist during Croatia’s surprise route to the World Cup final where they eventually lost to France.
Aside from Perisic, there has been a tentative link with Chelsea’s Willian with Mourinho having previously spoken fondly about the qualities about the Brazil international during the 2017/18 campaign.
Willian has largely been in-and-out of the starting lineup over the past two seasons and the attacker is now deemed to be considering an exit regardless of the Blues’ decision to replace Antonio Conte with Maurizio Sarri at the helm.
Manchester United begin their pre-season tour of the United States with a game against Club America on June 19 before taking on San Jose Earthquakes three days later. Thereafter, they face AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup before heading to Germany for their final friendly versus Bayern Munich.
