French attacker has decided to leave Manchester United – Agent

The representative of Anthony Martial has confirmed that the attacker will pursue a fresh challenge away from Manchester United during the summer. The Frenchman had been in contractual discussions with the Red Devils over the past season but his agent Philippe Lamboley has now confirmed that the 22-year-old has made his mind up to leave Old Trafford.
In an exclusive with RMC Sport, Lamboley highlighted that Martial ‘wants’ to leave the Mancunian giants after losing the club’s faith during the backend of last season. Martial had established himself as the preferred choice on the left-wing during the first half of the previous campaign but things turned pear-shaped following the mid-season arrival of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.
With Sanchez at the club, Martial had to sacrifice his position for a role on the right side of the attack and this typically restricted his contribution with just one assist between the months of February and May. As such, the attacker appears to have decided to leave the Mancunian giants during the summer but it will be interesting to see whether United would sanction his exit.
Presently, Martial has one year remaining on his contract with Jose Mourinho’s side but the club have the additional option of an extension clause which could be triggered to extend his stay by another year. In such case, the Frenchman may have to stick with the Old Trafford outfit for another campaign at the least, though this decision may be taken depending on his attitude in pre-season.
Back in the summer of 2017, Martial was one of the standout performers under Mourinho during their pre-season tour of the United States and the Frenchman may yet produce a similar showing next month to enhance his gametime. A number of United forwards including Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard are due to arrive late following their World Cup exploits and Martial could genuinely start the 2018/19 league opener, if he stays.
