Arsenal have confirmed the signing of German goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old becomes the Gunners’s second signing of the summer transfer window following the free transfer agreement for Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Leno had regularly been linked with the Gunners since the close of the season and the north London outfit have now announced the move via their official Twitter account, shortly after Leverkusen bid farewell to their shot-stopper.

Leno may not be the dream signing for the Gunners fan between the sticks but the 26-year-old nevertheless possesses the credentials of being a shot-stopper, who is excellent with his reflexes.
Over the past two seasons, he has been prone to errors in the Bundesliga but the change in environment could bring the best out of him under newly-appointed goalkeeping coach Chris Terpcou.
Meanwhile, the move is likely to present doubts over the positions of both Petr Cech and David Ospina, who have already been associated with potential departures from the Emirates Stadium.
Among the pair, Ospina may be the most likely to leave the Emirates Stadium after playing second fiddle to Cech for the past three seasons but manager Unai Emery may yet offer a different perception to the situation.
Whilst Cech does offer valuable experience on and off the field, there is another choice of Emery leaning towards Ospina as the second-choice keeper, given the Colombian is seven years younger than the former Czech international.
Nevertheless, the decision is for Emery to make at the beginning of pre-season and it will be interesting to see how the team shape up ahead of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
Aside from Leno and Lichtsteiner, the Gunners are also close to announcing the signings of Lucas Torreira and Sokratis from Sampdoria and Borussia Dortmund respectively and there could be further additions before the transfer deadline.
