Tottenham defender on Manchester United's shortlist for the summer

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly made up plans to bolster the full-back positions during the summer with Danny Rose understood to be among the leading targets.
The England international has had a tough time at Tottenham Hotspur ever since his public criticism over the club’s transfer policy and he has played second fiddle to Ben Davies for most of the campaign.
As such, talks have accelerated over him pursuing a fresh challenge and according to The Guardian, the 27-year-old could be the subject of an approach from United during the summer.
Ashley Young has done a more than credible job on the left side of the backline this campaign but there is still the concern over his age (32) which may hamper his chances of earning a long-term contract.
As a result, the Portuguese tactician appears keen on having Rose on-board for the upcoming season and beyond, though his arrival may coincide with the exits of Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind – all of whom have failed to impress the manager.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is also understood to be keen on finding a competitor for the right-back position with Antonio Valencia having likewise entered the twilight of his professional career.
Unlike in previous seasons, the Ecuador international has been less of a threat further up the field and the Mancunian giants are said to have begun the search for a new recruit to succeed the club vice-captain.
United are currently second in the Premier League table with 74 points and they have the opportunity of cementing their position further when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford this weekend.
Mourinho has succumbed to just one defeat against Arsene Wenger over the course of his managerial career in the Premier League and the 55-year-old will be keen to maintain his strong record against his French counterpart, who has decided his 22-year reign with the Gunners during the summer.
