Three things we learned: Chelsea 1-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea suffered a significant dent to their Champions League hopes as they succumbed to a 3-1 Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. The victory was Spurs’ first at the stadium in the Premier League era, and this now sees the Blues facing a huge uphill task of securing a top-four finish.
Three things we learned:
Dele Alli makes a match-defining impact: Christian Eriksen may have stolen the show with his wonder-strike during the first-half, but Alli managed to outshine his teammate with a match-winning brace in his 100th Premier League appearance. The Englishman collected a brilliant long ball from Eric Dier with precision before scoring past Willy Caballero in the 62nd minute, and there was more to come from him four minutes later. Just like Harry Kane, the attacker showed his predator instincts in the box, and he managed to get hold of the loose ball to secure Spurs’ third goal of the day.
Alvaro Morata finds his mojo: Alvaro Morata has been heavily criticised for his performances since the turn of the year, but of late, the Spaniard has returned to scoring ways. The marksman ended a 13-match goalless streak during the 2-1 quarter-final triumph over Leicester City in the FA Cup, and he continued from where he left off against Spurs by scoring another headed goal. Morata capitalised on a Hugo Lloris mistake to score the Blues opener, and this happened to be his seventh strike using his head – the most of that kind – by a single Premier League player this season.
Antonio Conte under-fire once more: The feel-good factor appeared to have returned after the FA Cup quarter-final triumph over Leicester, but Antonio Conte is once again under scrutiny after a ninth defeat in the Premier League season. Blues owner Roman Abramovich more or less defines a manager’s stay by whether they qualify for the Champions League in addition to silverware, and the Italian’s days look numbered. A number of managers has been already associated with the west London side, and a FA Cup final triumph next month may not entirely assure Conte of his job beyond the campaign.
