Arsenal won't follow up their interest in French attacker

Arsenal are unlikely to retain their interest in Manchester United winger Anthony Martial when the transfer window reopens in July. The France international had been keen on discussing a move to the Gunners in January but United refused to involve him in negotiations over a swap deal for Alexis Sanchez.
Eventually, the Gunners decided to pursue their next preference in Henrikh Mkhitaryan and this enabled Sanchez to join the Red Devils in a straight swap agreement. The move has since benefited both sides in a positive way with Mkhitaryan and Sanchez impressing in the starting lineup but the future of Martial remains uncertain owing to the latter’s arrival at Old Trafford.
According to Evening Standard, Martial has become frustrated with the reduced game time at United since the signing of Sanchez. The Frenchman has earned just three Premier League starts over the course of the past two-and-a-half months and this has spread speculation of him pursuing a fresh challenge with Barcelona said to be interested.
With the transfer gossip emerging, the Gunners would no doubt be linked with Martial once more but Evening Standard suggests that the north London side are unlikely to make a fresh approach during the summer.
As such, the Capital outfit are more focused on bolstering the other areas of the pitch including the central midfield and central defensive departments where they have possessed a sense of vulnerability during the course of the season.
Arsene Wenger’s side are also looking into another shot-stopper during the summer with Petr Cech approaching the final years of his professional career. Unlike in his formative years, the 35-year-old has made some notable blunders between the sticks and this has supposedly added more misery to an average season for the Gunners.
Arsenal are out of contention for a top-four league finish after dropping 13 points behind Tottenham Hotspur and their main focus is expected to lie on winning the Europa League which offers them a back-door entry into next season’s Champions League.
