Spain international refutes talk of possible Chelsea exit

Spanish wing-back Marcos Alonso has stressed that he is content with his stay at Chelsea, and he has no plans of pursuing a possible move away from Stamford Bridge. The 27-year-old joined the west London giants from Italian club Fiorentina during the dying stages of the 2016 summer transfer window.
Alonso’s move to Chelsea had generated a mixed response from the fans, considering the player has previously failed to perform in the top-flight with Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland.
However, he has managed to transform his game under Antonio Conte in the left-wing position, and he was among the standout performers during the previous campaign as the Blues were crowned Premier League champions.
The Capital outfit have not enjoyed similar success in the top-flight this term, but Alonso has been able to put in consistent performances from the starting lineup, to the extent that he has earned his maiden call-up to the national side.
In an exclusive with Marca, Alonso was quizzed about his future plans, where he appeared to dismiss the possibility of a summer exit. The Spaniard confessed that he is solely focused on the job at hand with Chelsea, for whom he wants to give his best.
The Blues are currently five points adrift of their quest to finish in the top-four this term, and Alonso will have a key role to play in the run-in, starting from the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Alonso bagged a goal in either half during the Blues’ 2-1 win over Spurs in August, and this included a stunning free-kick which was equally matched by a late 88th minute strike, which earned his side the bragging rights for the derby.
The 27-year-old is due to link up with his Blues teammates in the next 24 hours after making his Spain debut as a substitute against Argentina. La Roja celebrated a thumping 6-1 friendly win over the 2014 World Cup finalists, who played the fixture without the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
