Manchester United pair miss training session with France

Manchester United pair Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba are reported to have sat out Tuesday’s training session with France. The duo are said to have sustained minor niggles which may hamper their chances of featuring in the international friendly against Colombia on Friday night.
According to L’Equipe, Pogba and Martial joined their Les Bleus teammates on Monday, and the former was pictured participating in training whilst Martial sat out. However, Pogba has been forced to join his compatriot on the bench 24 hours on, with minor ‘toe and hip’ injuries said to be the concern.
Both players have endured difficult spells with Manchester United since the turn of the year but Pogba’s position with France is more or less secured under Didier Deschamps unlike Martial’s.
The former AS Monaco graduate has managed to earn a second-straight call-up owing to his performances for United during the month of January, but he has since struggled to command a regular starting position.
Martial has found himself in-and-out of the starting XI after Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal, and this has seemingly dried up his contribution with no goals or assists in the previous eight games for the club (ESPN).
The 22-year-old also does not have a good experience with the national side, having produced a poor showing during the 2016 European Championship, and he will be desperate to earn an opportunity against Colombia or Russia to prove his credentials.
On the contrary, Pogba is comfortable with his national team spot, though very little has gone right for him under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, where he has been a regular substitute of late.
The Frenchman has struggled with fitness and the loss of form in recent weeks, and his inability to influence games have seen him fall below Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in the pecking order for a midfield role.
