Liverpool are in search of a top quality star who could replace Philippe Coutinho at Anfield and a new name is in the lime light.
Yesterday, Tutto Sport claimed that the Reds are eyeing the signing of Argentine international and Atalanta captain Papu Gomez.
Today, another Italian source in the form of Il Mattino (press image provided below) have come up with a report claiming that Liverpool’s strong interest in the 29-year-old star has alarmed the Serie A side for whom Gomez is the driving force of the team.

The Italian source have further claimed that the Premier League club have identified Papu as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho. We’d disagree because the La Albiceleste star can play in multiple attacking positions but Liverpool actually need someone who can also operate in the midfield like Coutinho.
In the current campaign, Gomez, valued at £53million (Ole), has so far started 22 games for the Italian club and directly contributed in 15 goals (7 goals and 8 assists). He made his senior international debut for Argentina back in June 2017 and has so far played four times.
