Club would Prefer Selling Highly Rated Star to Liverpool in Summer

Liverpool let slip a two goal lead against Arsenal at the Emirates and could only earn a single point last night. Once again, all the good work done in the attack was undone by Liverpool’s poor defending.
The Merseysiders desperately need to sign a new central defender in the upcoming winter transfer window. They are virtually out of the title race and such a shaky back line could prove disastrous in the KO stages of the Champions League.
If reports (Independent) are anything to go by then Liverpool are competing with Dortmund to sign Swiss star Manuel Akanji but the baffling fact is that the Reds are prepared to wait for next summer to hire his services when they really need to reinforce the defense now.

The British source have mentioned that the German club want to sign the 22-year-old defender in January, however Basel want to keep him until next summer and Liverpool are prepared to wait.
In such a scenario Independent exclusively claim that Basel would prefer selling the highly rated defender to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The Swiss international has been impressive this season. Basel won 4 games in the group stages of the Champions League and Akanji helped the team keep clean sheets in all those contests.
