Gerrard – Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants Starting Role

Liverpool vs West Brom - Post Match AnalysisManchester United suffered a shocking lost in the Champions League last night against Swiss side FC Basel.
Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic recovered from his knee injury recently. He has so far made 2 substitute appearances and played just over 30 minutes for United this season. Last night, he only played 16 minutes and failed to make any impact.

Mourinho splashed the cash to sign Lukaku in the summer transfer window and the Belgian international also took Zlatan’s number 9 shirt. Still, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes that Zlatan wants to be the first choice striker at Old Trafford.
Stevie told BT Sport (Daily Star):

“I think in his (Zlatan) head he doesn’t see himself as a backup to Lukaku.”
“I think he still sees himself as the No 1, he’s going to push him all the way to try and take that spot.”

The veteran center forward was United’s top scorer in the last campaign, and throughout his career, he has never been a bench warmer. We can expect him to strive hard to earn a starting spot again under Jose. In my opinion, the former Chelsea boss must look to start both Zlatan and Lukaku.
