Liverpool are still linked with a move to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton even though the Saints do not want to sell him.
According to Daily Mail, the Reds step up the chase for the Dutch international as the Saints are eyeing a replacement in the form of Lazio’s Wesley Hoedt.
The British source have mentioned that Virgil has already told the club that he wants to leave and will now hold further talks about his future. It is stated that the former Celtic player is intent on signing for Liverpool to work under the management of Jurgen Klopp.

Van Dijk signed a new contract with the Saints last year which will expire in 2022 and at the moment, he is earning around €72,700-a-week (Star).
The 26-year-old Netherlands star was rock solid at the back for the Saints in the first half of the last campaign before getting injured in the month of January. He played 30 games in all competitions and netted 4 goals.
Liverpool conceded no fewer than 42 goals in the Premier League last season and shaky defense was one of the main reasons why they could not challenge for the title. Van Dijk will largely reinforce Klopp’s back line.
