The former Benfica midfielder not only provided the much needed solid cover in front of the back four but was also productive in the attacking third. In 35 league outings, he scored one goal and provided no fewer than eight assists.
The Serbian international has previously played under Jose Mourinho and was a key member of the side when the Blues won the PL title under the leadership of the Portuguese boss in 2014-15.
Hence, Mourinho is well aware of all the qualities of Matic and will likely utilize him in the center of the park with Ander Herrera.
