Manchester United have been linked with Spanish international and Barcelona star Sergi Roberto for quite some time this summer.
The Red Devils need a long term replacement for veteran right back Antonio Valencia and someone like Roberto could be a great signing.
The La Roja star is naturally a central midfielder but last season, he was mainly utilized as the team’s first choice right back. Sergi performed well in the RB role under the management of Jose Enrique.
Now that the new boss has arrived and Barcelona have already signed a new right back in the form of Nelson Semedo, Roberto’s playing time is expected to decrease this season. As far as the midfield is concerned, Barca already have stars like Gomes, Rafinha, Suarez, Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta and young Alena.

Now, the Catalan giants have agreed the signing of another midfielder in the form of Brazilian international Paulinho and that because of that other midfield stars including Sergi Roberto are disgruntled (Don Balon).
The Spanish source have mentioned that the 25-year-old star wants to stay but his playing time is going to be affected and therefore, he has not ruled out a move away from the club.
In such a scenario, Don Balon have stated that the likes of Manchester United and Juventus have shown that they are willing to pay the release clause of 40 million euros ($47million) to sign him.
Last season, Roberto played 32 league games and provided 6 assist. At the weekend, he featured for just 22 minutes against the Los Blancos in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
