Klopp now Looking to Sign Howedes for Liverpool

Liverpool were able to keep their first clean sheet of the season after beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Anfield at the weekend.
Still, the Merseysiders are very weak at the back and must sign a proven quality center half to strengthen the defense.
The Reds have mainly been linked with Dutch international and Southampton star Virgil van Dijk but now a new name is in the lime light in the form of Schalke star Benedikt Howedes.
The German international’s future has been up in the air after the club captaincy was taken away from him. Bild reported last week that clubs in England are interested and he could move for a fee of 20 million euros ($23.5million).

Yesterday, DW Sports tweeted that Klopp is now interested in signing the Kaiser for 20 million euros. The 29-year-old star was a pivotal member of Joachim Low’s team that won the World Cup in 2014.
For the national side, he has mostly played in the full back positions but naturally, he is a central defender. Last season, he played 46 games for Schalke, scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists. This season, he missed the DFB-Pokal game due to injury and was an unused substitute in the opening league game vs Leipzig at the weekend.
Howedes has admitted that if he leaves, he will move to a club outside Germany but for now he is not considering a move (Funke Sport via DW). Liverpool defender Matip used to partner Benedikt in the central defense for Schalke and we can expect the same partnership at Anfield if the German ends up signing for the Reds.
