Liverpool have strengthened their attacking department this summer but they have not been able to adequately reinforce the back line and the midfield.
As far as the midfield is concerned, the Reds have lately been linked with Real Madrid star Mateo Kovacic.
Yesterday, we covered a report (via Diario Gol) claiming that the Croatian international, who has a release clause of €50million (via ESPN), is worried about playing time at the Bernabeu and has verbally agreed to join Liverpool.

The 23-year-old ex Nerazzurri star is a complete midfielder and will largely improve Klopp’s squad. The German manager has been chasing Naby Keita and like the Guinean, Kovacic can operate from box to box.
Liverpool do have versatile midfielders like Wijnaldum, Can, Hendo and Milner. They lack someone who can effectively tackle the ball as a play breaker and also provide quality passes as aa deep lying playmaker.
That dilemma can be solved by Mateo and if the Croatian joins, he should replace Henderson in the starting XI because the skipper has been the most out of form midfielder, who is mainly deployed in the DM role by Jurgen.
Here is how Klopp will line up with Kovacic.
