After Tense Talks – £70m Star Again Said he Wants Liverpool Move

Liverpool must sign a top quality central defender before the transfer window closes in a few weeks and Virgil van Dijk could be the one to join.
Recently, Graeme Kelly, who used to cover exclusives for Goal.com claimed (The Gambling Times) that as per his knowledge, Chelsea are hopeful of signing the Dutch defender and Liverpool may lose out.
However, according to an exclusive report covered by the Irish Independent, Chelsea are not even mentioned. The report states that after the latest tense talks between Van Dijk, his agent and the Saints, the 26-year-old center back told the club once more that he wants to complete Liverpool move.

The Irish source have claimed that since May, Virgil has his heart set on joining the Reds and his desire has not changed even now.
It is also stated that the former Celtic star has not submitted an official transfer request as yet which could act as a catalyst in helping him join Liverpool but then he will have to make a certain payment to the Saints as well. Therefore, he has only told verbally that he wants out.
Virgil featured in 30 games in all competitions for Southampton last season and scored four goals for the club. Unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury in the month of January and missed the second half of the campaign.
His current deal with the Saints is going to expire in 2022 and he is rated around £70m (Express).

I don’t get why Southampton have not asked Liverpool for a part player exchange (French international premier league proven) Mohammed sakho & 25-35 million cash deal for Van Dijk or why Liverpool have not suggested it
Liverpool don’t like selling their best players but when they cry or strike or run down contract : Alonso, masherano, mcmanaman, Owen, Suarez (who all went to the supposed big spenders of Madrid and Barca – who for the record low balled LFC for every player they bought ) . If u won’t fight for lfc then good bye .
Courtinho yes he wants to play for Barca if we do not want him but is happy at lfc for another season , so until he starts biting people and while he fights for lfc , he will stay .
Southampton are being silly , they didn’t get their bidding war and allowed man city lfc and Chelsea to speak to the player but Chelsea and lfc moved too quickly and they started crying
The common fan picks up the bill for these stupid values and bidding wars in cost to watch on tv or at the game and it’s the little clubs to blame as much a s the big clubs .

Saints don’t want to sell their star player. So why should they just roll over for Liverpool, who clearly don’t have the cash. Meanwhile Saints are selective in their signings and either don’t want Sakho or don’t think he is worth anything like LFC price. Certsinly not when his 100k a week wages, whilst VVD on 70k. You do the math.
You better stuck it up, LFC will never get their hands on VvD

Why does he not ask for a transfer then? It is all about money .Ask for £100,000,000 net of his costs.Let Liverpool pick up the tag.

I hope it’s just paper talk and klopp isn’t serious about our CB position. Lovren is prone to numerous mistakes usually costly, klavan was bought for cover. We need quality VVD is the man for the job,

Fsg have absolutely no intentions whatsoever of spending big money. Salah is our main signing of the summer and the only possible way we would spend big on another player is if we sell coutinho first .we spent a net of nothing last season and for anyone who believed the hype at the start of the summer that we were going to spend upto £200 mill on new recruits,im afraid that was never going to happen under fsg.they employed klopp for a reason knowing dam well he has a histery of finding bargains in the tranfer market without spending big.one things for certain we will definately have lots of injuries through out the season so a big depth of quality will be needed for us to progress on last season and although weve bought a good few players im not convinced tge deoth of quality is there.

This time around, I sense Klopp will regret his “smart guy” attitude for not signing a central defender of high quality. Fingers crossedd!!
