Spurs have to Sign Riyad Mahrez – Enough is Enough

Tottenham have not been able to strengthen their squad as yet, mainly because they do not want to pay huge transfer fees.
Spurs have been interested in signing Ross Barkley from Everton but they are not willing to meet the huge asking price of 50 million pounds (Standard).
More recently, ES have reported that the North Londoners are looking to sign Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, who wants to leave the Foxes this summer. The problem is that Spurs do not want to pay 50 million pounds for the Algerian playmaker as well.
It is understandable that they do not want to pay the above mentioned fee for Barkley because his contract will expire next year. Moreover, the England international has been inconsistent over the years as well.
However, Mahrez helped Leicester win the PL title and signed a new deal worth £100,000-a-week ($130,000-a-week) last summer (Telegraph).

Keeping in mind the inflated transfer market, what sort of discount is Levy hoping to get for someone who deservedly won the PFA Player of the Year award for his brilliant performances in 2015-16 campaign and has a contract until 2020.
Enough is enough, Spurs have to splash the cash and must meet the asking price to sign Mahrez, who is a top quality star and will largely improve Pochettino’s offense.
The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United, Man City and Chelsea have already reinforced their teams by completing multiple key signings but Spurs have just wasted time and lost a key defender by selling Walker to the Sky Blues.
Due to Levy’s rigid stance, it looks highly likely that Pochettino will not be able to adequately strengthen his team before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
