After a terrible 2015-16 campaign that saw Chelsea finish 10th in the Premier League, Roman Abramovich opted to hire Antonio Conte as head coach and the Italian boss proved to be brilliant.
Under the management of the former Juventus manager, the Blues won 30 league games to win the Premier League title in style last season.
Surely he deserved a new deal after such a brilliant achievement and the Stamford Bridge club confirmed yesterday that Conte has signed a new two year deal.
This means that Antonio has not extended the three year contract he signed when he joined the club last year. Instead, he has just improved the terms of his deal.
According to Telegraph, Conte has become the highest paid manager in the club’s history after signing a deal that will make him earn 19.2million pounds ($25million) in the next two years.
The Blues have already strengthened their team by signing the likes of Rudiger and Bakayoko in the summer transfer window. Now that Conte has improved his wages, he must look to further reinforce the squad for next season.
